Lessons and Instructors
Our Instructors teach hunter, jumper & dressage disciplines for pleasure riding or the show ring, as well as basic beginner riding skills. The emphasis is on safety and having fun! The benefit of a small program is having individual lessons on great horses.
Woody, one of our lesson horses, is a 14.1 HH German Sport Riding Pony who loves to jump and has been shown successfully in children's hunters and dressage.
Organized trail riding is offered to our students on some Sundays and holidays, weather permitting. We trailer over to Kennesaw Mountain for a 2 hour ride with beautiful scenery.
My lesson program is aimed at beginners – adults and children alike – on safe, wonderful horses, teaching beginning Dressage and Jumping.
Balance, patience, independent seat and kindness to the horse are all taught as part of the lesson plan, along with horsemanship, correct handling, safety, grooming and tacking up/untacking, creating a well-rounded and confident student.
I’ve been riding and enjoying horses since I was 7 years old, and have been an instructor in this area since 2003. Growing up in South Africa I had the opportunity to instruct on a part time basis, beginning whilst still a teenager, giving me the knowledge and enthusiasm to begin my program here in Powder Springs.
Not long after I became involved as a volunteer in a Hippotherapy Program, I obtained my Therapeutic Riding Instructor Certification (2004). I loved seeing the benefits that children reaped from horse riding – both mental and physical. Most of my current students are able bodied riders, but I still have one student with a few challenges.
Feel free to come watch a lesson. And visit saddlearts.com for more information.
When it comes to horses, I’ve done a bit of just about everything including western, timed events, saddle-seat, then focusing on dressage and hunters. I am currently showing Dressage and have competed successfully in local hunter shows.
My students’ range from beginner to more experienced riders wanting fine-tuning. I teach students to be confident riders with a strong independent seat and light feel of the bridle. I always explain how and why a particular command or body position is used so that my students understand the movements and the horse’s response.
I have been riding for more than 20 years and have trained with the following:
Hunters/Jumpers – Kathy Wells, Cathy Stevenson
Dressage – Chris Erbskorn, Amber Clark, Laura Wharton, Richard Lifton,
